Common questions

Before you come in

Is the S20 FE screen the same as a regular Galaxy S20?

No — the S20 FE has a flat 6.5-inch Super AMOLED, while the standard S20 uses a smaller curved panel, so they are different parts. The flat FE panel is generally the more affordable repair.

My S20 FE has an optical fingerprint reader — will it still work?

Yes — the S20 FE uses an optical under-display sensor; we seat the new panel correctly and recalibrate so it keeps reading.

My S20 FE taps or swipes by itself, or ignores my touch, even though the glass looks fine — is that the screen?

Often yes. The S20 FE is well known for "ghost touch" — the phone registering phantom taps or developing dead zones with no visible crack — and the cause sits in the touch layer of the AMOLED. We rule out the cheap culprits first, since a thick or badly fitted screen protector, a case pressing the edges, and a pending software update can all trigger it, so we test with those removed. If the phantom touches or unresponsive patches persist after a drop, moisture, or heat, the digitizer built into the display has failed, and the fix is a panel replacement — the touch layer is not serviced separately from the AMOLED on this model.

Why did my S20 FE crack so easily compared to other Galaxy flagships?

Part of how the Fan Edition hit its lower price was the glass: the S20 FE shipped with Gorilla Glass 3 on the front, an older formulation than the Gorilla Glass 6 protecting the standard S20, and paired it with a plastic back. That front glass is simply less drop-tolerant, which is why cracked S20 FE screens are one of the most common Galaxy repairs we see — and the flat panel underneath at least keeps the replacement more affordable than a curved flagship.
